What is a Virtual Pride Parade?

Our virtual LGBTQ+ Pride Parade will capture the voices, images, and artistry of our students, families, staff, and community members who celebrate, affirm, and elevate the LGBTQ+ experience. Using video, audio, and photo submissions, we will be turning our DCPS LGBTQ+ Instagram feed and Facebook page into a virtual Pride Parade throughout the week of June 8, 2020.

How can you participate?

Using the them, "What LGBTQ+ Pride Means to Me," record a short video (five minutes or less), take a pic, write a poem, paint a picture, dance it out--whatever form of expression works best for you--and email it to Tara.Cheston@k12.dc.gov.  Include the following details in your email:

  • Your name

  • Your pronouns

  • Your DCPS school or Office

  • A little bit about yourself that can be posted with your permission. This will accompany your submission on our social media pages.

Keep your submissions clean and affirming, please! No profanity, and no homophobic, anti-trans, racist, or other negative language.

Remember: It is illegal to out, or to share the sexual orientation or gender identity, or someone without their permission. Do not share videos, images, etc. that may infringe on the privacy of others.

Submissions must be received before the week of June 8th in order to be included!
